What code is it throwing? Just hook a scan tool up to it, it'll be easier then guessing. Should'nt be too hard to fix though.

ok thanks ill have to wait till tomarrow to grab my scaner i was just thinking there might have been something i overlooked since there was no codes before the swap.

ok I hooked it up to a scanner & it said o2 sensor lean Im not sure why changing the trans would make the o2 sensor go bad but im going to try replacing it.

How's the engine running? Maybe you have a vacuum leak. Did you plug the vacuum port that the vacuum modulator for the trans went to?

no vacume leaks it runs great if the check engine light didn't come on i wouldn't have known there was a problem.

Untill you get the codes pulled its gonna be a lot of: could be this, could be that. If you get the codes and post them here someone will be able to tell you what it is and what to fix or check.

Anyway I got a couple of "could be's" of my own. The explorer you swapped the manual out of, did it have a check engine light? Could it be that maybe one of the components you swapped is throwing the code bc its broken :dunno: Or maybe it was a complete coincident! :D

My work here is done :salute:

posted what the code was earlier if i remember the # right it was 163? but I know it said o2 sensor lean.

Might want to recheck the code NUMBER. Just looked in my Haynes manual and 163 isn't listed... at all. But if it's saying the o2 sensor is lean, maybe it just needs replacing, and depending on how many miles you have, might just be a time to get them out of the way.

You have a 1991 according to your profile, and with that in mind. I believe there's only one o2 sensor (I think). I want to say 91-92 had one sensor, while 93-94 had two (again, not 100% sure). So try replacing it, then resetting the computer by disconnecting battery and letting it sit for about 15-20 minutes, and see if it throws any more codes.

Correct the 91-92 explorers only have one O2 sensor

i have a 93 with only 1 oxygen sensor, and it doesnt have an egr system, but does have 4 wheel abs. if i remember correctly the build date was like june of 93. im not complanin, i like only have 1 o2 and no egr.

could the code of maybe been stored in the other ecm from the truck it came out of and it just stuck as a history code? JMO

Hey thats a good idea.
Yea yours is probably where they just started switching the setups. I like having no egr but I want two O2 sensors so I can run true duals, but oh well.

on an EEC-IV i dont think youd run into too much trouble running true duals with only 1 o2? would it really make that much difference? the single o2 is on the drivers side crossover pipe, correct? so really it only reads one cylinder bank anyway. just a thought.

*sigh*

true duals

if a good setup if figured out for the first gen explorers... it's going to catch on quick.

No its in the middle of the crossover pipe right where the two pipes merge together so it reads both left and right banks.

The only bad thing I can think of with only having one is that if one bank is going bad, you'd have to really check both for problems, unless you luck out and go for the correct one the first time.

Yea exactly:thumbdwn: but then again I guess it's cheaper since you only have to replace one sensor instead of two. I wonder if the dual O2 sensor setup is more accurate.

so i think you should change the 02 sensor, diffently if you havent changed it yet.I truthfully change mine every year.Once you pull one out and see how nasty it gets you'll understand.

alright no more check engine light after doing some more testing i found out that the ecm was bad put a new one in no more light and runs great now if i could just figure out my stupid 4lo problem.

When I did my auto to manual swap I lost 4lo also but instead of rewiring I just switched to a manual t-case. In order for the t-case to engage 4lo you must be in nuetral with the clutch pedal depressed and at a complete stop so the control module obviously isnt getting one of those signals and is not allowing 4lo to engage. I've heard people talking about a way to bypass the module so you can have a switch that forces the t-case into 4high or 4low.
