Symptoms: Anti-theft alarm randomly going off for a few weeks - simply unlocked car with remote to stop. Then yesterday, locks were repeatedly locking/unlocking. Only way I could stop this was to disconnect the battery.

Dealer: Stating that the driver side latch assy has a broken spring and wants to charge $489 for a new latch assy.

Doesn't make sense - any tips?

I have a broken spring in my drivers door latch assy as we speak. I got a new latch assy from Ford Parts Network for less than $30... I just havnt grown the balls to attempt installing it yet.

The only problem mine is causing is the door wont unlock with the remote, the key or the key pad. I have to open the back door, reach around and wiggle the lock while pressing the button on the remote and it pops up. Kinda a PITA, but I dont mind.

Try reading this thread. A guy did a nice write up on his installation.

If the cargo door lock has a force on top of it, would THIS cause the door locks to continuously "lock" EVERY second? The dealer is now "assuming" that this was the problem.
When I dropped off my X, I had the cargo area FILLED w/ tailgating supplies! If this is indeed the case...
