Hello,

My 96 explorer is having electrical problems, When I drive my battery gauge jumps to high and my lights start to flicker, it bounces in the high end of the gauge. and the battery warning light pulsates on and off. but when im stopped at a light the guage sits at normal.

any info will be greatly appreciated. any questions i could answer also!!

Welcome Krylonkoopa.
Sounds like your alternator is overcharging due to a faulty
voltage regulator. I'm not sure where it's located on your
model and engine though......it'll either be an external unit,
or intergal with the alternator or the ECM.

yeah?

thanks for the input.

I have the v8 xlt if that helps.

Yeah hopefully i can get this fixed since I have a nice 7 hr drive from north carolina to florida in the next few days.
Or if i continue to drive it for 400 miles would that be too much of a problem.

It looks like my head light are pulsing to a beat.
