I check out the headers and they were fine...
But then I came across this...

I tried to zoom in but its from my Camera phone...

The hoses right in back of the oil Dipstick has a hole on it...
I feel air coming out...
I have a feeling it has something to do with the transmission because it's giving me rougher shifts and now drop Down to 1k rpm when coasting at 50mph... also engaging and dis engaging the o/d Now does nothing...

Anyone know what its called? should there be fluid in it? or is it just a vaccum hose... Please hurry I have a 50 mile trip in less then 5 hours...
Thanks...

Can i go the 50 miles with out it??

CEL is on...

well your pictures just suck. ha Anyway, Wish I could help you out, but I am not sure exactly what we're talking about here. If you have to make the trip; stay out of the highway speeds and keep it around 45-50 mph. You should be ok

I'll go check mine at lunch-time.... I'll see if I can figure out what it is....

Your trying to show the black thing with 2 tubes coming out the bottom, its attached to engine block on the drivers side?

Yes I am trying to show the black thing with 2 tubes coming out of the bottom, its attached to the engine block on the driver side...

If it's the black piece with two rubber hoses and an electrical connector on it attached to the valve cover, I just went and looked at mine..... I have no clue what it is. The two rubber hoses connect to two steel nipples that appear to be attached to the EGR tube coming up off the collector of the exhaust maniforl. I have absolutely no idea what it is or what it does, but it doesn't appear to be the MAP sensor as it's not attached to the manifold in any way I can see.

Maybe some type of flow sensor for the EGR system?

No clue....

I would say that it is the DPFE system (Differential Pressure Feedback EGR system). A straight unplug and bolt back on item. Get the vacuum pipes on the correct way around though ie label them. Just the two bolts hold it on.

Yup, DPFE sensor. If its just the hose that has a hole, replace the hose with some high temp replacement. Its just a slip fitting on both ends.

one of the fittings on the thing now melted off... anyone know how much this piece is?

They tend to clog up over time, then blow a hole in either the tubing, or the DPFE sendor itself.

Notice how the newer ones have metal tubing for most of the length, and the short sections of hose used are much thicker, and have that red inner core.

Something like $35

hey is there anyway you can hook me up with one... Ford dealer around me wants about 150....

Do you have the item number for it?

I went to... auto zone strauss and associate auto parts and they said they dont carry it...

Autozone caries it. Thats where I picked up mine. They just don't call it a DPFE Sensor. Its called an EGR pressure sensor or something like that.

Yes that the DPFE! changed mine last weekend and the engine runs almost like new. Autozone carries it for about $50. I do believe they have it in the computer listed as "EGRflow sensor"
