Ok....I have gone to the website and looked where they told me to. I am in the process of purchasing a Superchip. I can not for the life of me find anything really resembling a computer or computer code where they say it is. Anybody know where it is on a 1995 V-6 OHV Explorer? Maybe some pics would help, if ya have any. Help me out here, my foot is starting to itch thinking of the seat of the pants feel when I get that chip in there with the 93 octane, NoS Racing Formula Fuel Additive (probably adds a good 2-3 rearwheel hp). Maybe I'll be able to smoke my tires a little bit more than just squealing em from a stand still. But that all remains to be seen! I gotta find that darn computer code!!! Help!!!

YOu need the calibration code. It is on a small white sticker on the door frame on the driver's side.

You sure that it's on the door? It told me on the site that it was on the computer....Arghhhh Help!!!

Sean,
I think for the 95's and below the computer is located in the passenger side kick panel.

I must be a complete retard. Maybe I'm not looking where I should. Anybody got any pictures that would help? 1995 Explorer....trying to find the computer code to give to Superchips. Help!!! Please....I NEED horsepower ;). Seriously though, help me out if ya can. Thanks guys.

Looks like your in the same boat as I am. I have been looking for me ECU code for the past couple months on my 91 and no luck... they told me it was on the computer, but the sticker on the computer didn't have it opn there, then they told me to look in the engine compartment, but where they told me to is where my AC compressor is... it's very frustrating. They told me that I was going to have to goto a dealer near me to have my codes read, and that was the only way. The only problem is that he said that I would more than likely have to buy the superchip for the guy who reads my code (who will be much more expensive). If i find anything I'l let you know, and if you would do the same...

thanks
Chris

All I had to do was pull the computer out, get the number, and put it back in to get the code. My computer is in the firewall, accessed from the engine bay. There's a sticker on there with the computer number. If there isn't, shouldn't you be able to call a Ford place and give them the VIN to get the computer code? You can't totally rely on model year and specs to give you the correct code, sometimes there's more than one code per year, and sometimes different years share codes. The code also depends on state, tranny, and other factors.

Calling in with a VIN to get a computer code won't do any good if Ford upgraded your PCM's software during a visit. Of course neither will the stickers either though. That was what I ran into when Ford updated my software to cure my hesitation problem on my '97. They didn't put on replacement stickers when they changed my program so the only way I could find out the code was by going back to the dealer that did the updated and have him pull the computer code. He actually gave me a Hex filename and I gave that to the SuperChips distributer. They traced it to the computer code by that. I did have a small 1 1/4" X 1" white sticker on my firwall though with the original 4-digit computer code. It was also on my computer as well. It just wasn't the correct one anymore.

Ok....That's it...I'm about 2 inches from giving up on even buying a Superchip...I REALLY REALLY want one, but for the life of me, I cannot find my computer, or code. Here's what I've done...I've e-mailed the tech staff at Superchips and they suggested the under the hood, driver's side firewall as the location...IT'S NOT THERE!! And if it is, then I'm a complete inept. Does anyone have pictures of a 1995 Explorer XLT 4.0L V-6 Automatic 4wd engine compartment with maybe some pointing arrows to where the computer is?? I am down to this last option...I need some maybe step by step directions...Be as descriptive as possible..I was curious, so I've also done some exploring(no pun intended) in my truck...In the passenger's side kick panel, I've found what I think looks like a computer module of some type...Only thing is it's held in place by a bracket and I don't have the patience right now to do anything about it...Help!!! This is a serious, defeated, frustrated cry for help...I really really want to get a chip, but I CAN NOT FIND THE FREAKIN COMPUTER...I've exhausted all other options other than step by step finding instructions and/or pictures of the exact location for my rig...please help...I'm feeling so incapable right now....:) Come on...help a brother out...

My "Engine Calibration Code" is actually on the door, not the door jamb as most are. It's a little white tag that says calibration in English and French (I think) under that.

do you mean underneith the door pannel? And if so which side?

chris

No, on the door near the latching mechanism.

ooohhhhh, ok i'll have to take a look at that tonight...
thanks
chris
