I just moved to Hawaii and they have the CRAZIEST laws I have ever heard of. Basically the state of Hawaii is hurting for money so the easiest way to make money is to tax the living crap out of everyone. So if you bring or buy a car here you have to get it inspected ($$$) and if you have altered you vehicle(TT/Shackles, Cat-Back, Wheels, Tires, Lights) then you have to get a "Reconstruction Permit"($$$). So I went to get my permit and inspection and failed because I don't have fender flares.
Do any aftermarket conpanies make flares for 1999-2001 4-Doors? They all stop at 1998.
Does anyone have any factory flares for sale (Yes I searched the 4-Sale forum), 95XLT's already sold.
Everything else I can fix, but I need flares or I can't drive my truck.

Thanks.
Kevin

i might have the front flares off my truck soon. but they are cut up a bit.

but i think the wheelwells are the same until the 2001/2002 redesigns, so 1998- aftermarket ones should work.

I thought so too, but why would they be listed different? The only thing I can think of is the bumper make over they did for the 99's.

these too:
Dead Link Removed

I think you need to look some more, goober ;)

You are a life saver, Alec!

Thanks buddy.

There isnt much different that would affect your flares. The only difference is the rear side trim between the rear wheel well and the bumper. In 99 they made it wider and I think they put a plastic piece along the bottom of the tailgate.

Addkev, I just got the Xenon's for my 98 and having them painted...top notch pieces of equipment

El Cheapo!

I would go to home depot, buy 10' of the black plastic garden trim and a roll of 2 sided tape. Stick it on the inside of the fender wells, take it to inspection, take it home and rip it off. Then again I've been known to do all sort of things to get cars through inspection in PA including duct taping up the bed of my '79 ford truck and spray painting.

That is what everyone is telling me to do, but I will probably get the Xenon Flares because if I am going to do it, I might as well do it right the first time. Thanks everyone for helping!

Well I finally passed after 6 attempts. I have ordered the Xenon flares but I couldn't drive without my inspection and I couldn't live without driving so I had to do a quick fix while I am waiting for them to come in. I went to Home Depot and bought the rubber floor edging that goes on tile floors and cut it to length then put plastic wall anchors in the existing holes in the fender and screwed those babies on(it looked so ugly), then I took my truck to Exhaust systems of Hawaii, they wanted $50 just to give me a piece of paper saying that my Flowmaster 50 series SUV muffler is at least as good or better than the stock muffler. But check this out the manager owns an Exploder also, so I tipped him off on the website and showed him some tips I have learned on the website and instantly I had my Exhaust Affidavit(thank you Rick). Next I had to show that my shackles didn't raise the vehicle more than an inch from stock,(if it is raised more than an inch you have to go to an alignment shop and have it inspected for safety, another $50, under an inch they call it good) they suggested I bring in my old shackles and they would measure them, well it is more than an inch because I measured, but it is exactly an inch longer than an Eddie Bauer or Limited shackle(EB and Limited have longer shackles to clear the 255/70 R16 tires) so I went to ford had them measure a EB shackle put the length on a Dealer letterhead and off I went. My last hurdle was my Hella driving lights. They do not have a SAE number on them because they are made in Germany(if you look at your headlights and turn signals they have this SAE number on them, without it your lights are illegal, at least in Hawaii.) Well, I couldn't just take them off because you have to remove the wiring harness and everything including the lightbar. So, I just stood my ground on the lights and told the inspector that as long as my covers are on then it shouldn't matter if they are legal or not, they are for off road use only. Finally he gave in and let me keep my lights. Thanks everyone for your help, especially Alec.
Thanks.

Kevin
