Help! I have no reverse.

My transmission went out in my 1998 ford explorer, or at least the guy says that is what happen , it wont go in reverse but goes in drive ? I cant find a used one anywhere, has anyone encountered this problem before . Its 1998 4wd automatic. I love it , i miss it so bad. Can it be rebuilt? Thanks , patty

Welcome to the site Patty, I'd bring it to a local transmission shop like a Transmedic if there's one out your way.

Welcome to this forum! I've renamed your thread, and moved it into the transmission & transfer case section. Do you have manual 1st gear? If so, then check the transfer case. It could have a problem with the shift rail or the shift fork.
