Okay...Heres my delima.
I have a 1995 4 door XLT
I believe i have the basic sound system with the cd changer in the center console.
I want to add a stock subwoofer. How would i go about doing that?
I bought a sub system at the junkyard and traced the wires from front to back.
I found that it unplugs in the passenger kick panel and i went "Woo Hoo" this should be a snap (No Pun intended)

I got it home and it fits the same and ran the wires to find out when i plug it in, im only plugging in 2 of the 4 plugs and theres no sound at all after that.

Heres pictures of what i have:

Bump.....Can anyone help?

Your head unit isn't equipped for the subwoofer. You'll need the upgraded head, and the harnesses that run from it to the subwoofer (I think- they may actually be there).

Yes- you need the JBL head unit to plug everything in. I think there was also a different harness from the head unit to the kick panel. I have the same setup you pulled and couldn't install it. Instead, when my head unit expired, I put in a Pioneer deck, and will run a small amp and sub off the head unit output and mount it on the stock subwoofer panel thingie.

i am going to try to do that too. I missed my pioneer cd player from my other explorer. I bought another deck thats the same model and i will try to wire it up to the sub.
