Help - I'm new to this!

Hey Guys,

I just ordered my very first new car! I chose a black Ford Explorer FWD XLT, package 202A with nav and Ecoboost. I'm extremely excited but am having trouble waiting (compounded by the fact that I promised my old car to a very eager buyer).

I ordered the car on 8/13/12, so I realize I'm just now in the window of 5-8 weeks. But I sent my order # and dealer ID to Cory and he found out that it hasn’t even been scheduled yet due to plant supplier availability. What does this mean? Is there anything I can do about it? I contacted the dealer, and they have been "working on it" but I haven't heard any news.

Any help or insight would be appreciated. I'm just worried 5-8 weeks is going to turn into 8 - 12 weeks...

Not a whole lot you can do about it short of buying one off the lot. Supply problems happen now and then for any number of reasons, and unless you can pinpoint the part in question and order another vehicle without that part, you are kinda stuck on your order. These issues can work themselves out quickly, or they can drag. It is often difficult to determine which without simply waiting.
 






Thanks for the info Vince! I was afraid of that - I guess I'll just have to wait it out. I was just wondering if anyone else was having these same supply type issues. I'm supposed to hear back from the dealer later this week, so I'm crossing my fingers that it's good news!
 






Also, you should PM Cory at FordCustSrvc. Look in one of the other threads in this sub-forum and left click on the red FordCustSrvc. When you do a small menu will appear. Click on 'Send a private message....' Type a quick note and tell Cory your name, city, dealer name, and order number if you have it. He'll be able to track your order using that information. He may also be able to give you some more detailed info.

I finally got my VIN yesterday!!! When I try to look up the window sticker I get this message "The VIN entered was not found in our system." Does anyone know how long it takes for the VIN to show up in the system in order to access the window sticker? Also, I was given an estimated shipment date of 10/21. Based on this, what is the expected delivery date?
