I have a 91 X that has a intermitent starting problem. Ever now and then it will just crank and won't start. But most times it starts and runs times. I've check for codes, and none show up.

When it doesn't start, is it because the engine isn't getting fuel or spark or both? No fuel seems to be more common than no spark. When it won't start, do you hear the fuel pump run?

crankshaft position sensor

Check to see if the check engine light comes on. This will verify the ECM relay is working. Some have had intermitant problems with this relay as well as the fuel pump relay. You can replace both for a little over $10 You should be able to hear the pump come on for a couple of seconds. Crank sensor is easy and cheap. Fuel pump at this age is a possibility.
