My 2000 Sport has been starting a little rough every now and then for a week. Sometimes needed an extra turn of the key and a little gas. Today, it starts if I give it gas. But the second I take my foot off the gas it dies. I've tried keeping it going for a few minutes, but it still stalls the second I take my foot off the gas. Guess I got to get it towed somewhere for a fix. Just wondering what the problem is and if this is common (it's used, only had it 6 weeks).

Update: Tried 20 minutes later and it started fine without even touching the gas. I'm in more need of info now as I fear it'll be (apparently) working fine when/if I take it to a shop.

Have you head of the 00M12 Owner notification program regarding intake manifold gaskets? It could be that. If you do a search, you can find a way to test it using propane to see if that is the problem.

Also, if it's not that, it's your IAC.

Thanks, Jason. Did a search on both. Lots of good info here.

Newbie question: Can I take advantage of the OOM12 gasket replacement, though the X is off-warranty and I'm the 2nd owner?

How many miles on your truck?
