HELP, it won't shift!!!

Hello,

I have a 1994 Explorer Eddie Bauer, 4.0, 4x4, auto w/ OD, 184K miles on second transmission. Now it has started again....!! It will act like it doesn't want to shift. When I start from a stop it will not shift up through the gears unless I play with the accelarator/RPM's. I let off the gas once or twice and then it will shift. Once I get it up to speed, it seems to shift up and down just fine while driving down the highway but then will start all over again when I have to slow way down or stop. I love this thing but don't want to spend another $1500 bucks to keep it on the road again. I have already done a fluid flush, replaced the filter and pan gasket but no luck. I took it to a transmission shop and they said they tested the vaccum and that the issue is on the inside and it would have to be rebuilt or replaced. I drove it 35 minutes to get to the transmission shop so it seems kind of crazy that I have to go through this all over again. I'm not too much of a mechanic and could really use any help you guys have.

Welcome to this forum! Adjust the bands, and the kickdown cable. Do you have an adjustable modulator? If so, you could adjust it as well.

Thanks so much for the reply! I would love to do that stuff but I don't know how. Is there anything here on this site that would tell how to do that type of work?
