91 EB
Hello All,
I have a 91 EB that is leaking gas! I'm not really mechanically inclined but today after I started the engine I smelled gasoline and saw gas leaking pretty fast when I looked at the bottom of the engine. I stopped the engine immediately because I was sure it was going to catch on fire with such big leak. The leak stopped after the engine's off. I then popped the hood and saw gasoline on the engine; some had accumulated on the surface it. So it seems to be a leak from where the gasoline feeds into the engine? A friend told me it may be the fuel filter? I'm not a mechanic but I can follow directions and figure things out pretty fast. Please help! Much obliged!

Get it towed to a shop for fixing. Gas is a thing you cant ("I'm not really mechanically inclined") makes mistakes with. You don't need a charcoaled X on your hands.Learn to wrench on easier problems. Good Luck

I believe the fuel filter is on the frame under the truck, I would bet you have a rubber fuel line coming from your metal lines on the intake leaking going to your carb\tb ect. Don't start the truck but, use a light and closely inspect the lines for holes ect especially around any clamps, that is usually where it starts. Let me know if I can help be of anymore help, Matt

I have a 91 xlt that just did the same thing recently. Check the fuel pressure regulator, located on the passenger side fuel rail (has the braided stainless hose going onto it). Chances are, the o-ring in there has given out inside the fuel line where it pushes onto the regulator, dripping gas onto the top of your intake manifold. Our year has a simple push-on type of fitting. The only fix I was told, was to replace the short section of fuel line ($400 CDN)........hahahahaaa.

What I opted for, was to spend the $130 at an auto parts store to get a 1993 (improved design) fuel pressure regulator that has the screw-on type fitting on top, then go to the wrecker and get the short 1993/94 fuel line with the threads for $30. Far cheaper than replacing just the hose from Ford, and it will not leak again. If you get the push-on fuel line from a wrecker, chances are that it will be leaky just like yours is. Remember you need special fitting tools to disconnect the lines. I was lazy and had a shop do it for me (and they learned a new fix at the same time!). This line I believe is the fuel return line backto the tank, and does not carry the brunt of the fuel pressure FYI.

Good Luck
