2001 Explorer Sport
I just picked up the wiring harness and connected everything up but I get no sound. My guess was there is an amp in the truck BUT the harness I picked up is the correct one but there is no amp turn on wire....

it's a 2001 explorer sport in case you need to know...

has anyone had this problem? what should I do?

it's an eclipse deck which I know works I just took it out of my old car...

I'm sure it has to do with the truck having an amp but no lead to connect the remote to....ahhhhh this sucks

doh, this sucks....

there were also two extra clips that plug into the back of the stock HU and those are not being used...

basically I got the wiring harness from a local store, connected everything.. and no sound... WTF:confused:

I had the same problem in my explorer, the harness that crutchfield sent me had one wire short than what it was suppose to have. You can get new ones at walmart that should solve your problem. I am not sure if this works with newer explorers but it did on my 94. If all fails, go to a shop and ask someone there, they usually don't charge you to just look at it.

Also, make sure your remote wire (the blue one) is connected right or that your harness you got has one. I had this same problem and it was all because of that one little wire.

If you have an amp, which I don't know if 2001's do or not, then you have the wrong harness. The right harness would have the power, ground, and remote for the amp. If you have the external amp I'd get rid of it cause the sound quality sucks. You need to find out if your truck has an amp. If it does you can bypass it and use the harness that you have.
