I don't think I want to have my "cold air intake" anymore. The truck doesn't seem to run right. I think the maf is too far away form the engine and the oil and engine temp gets too hot too fast. I think I will go back to my old setup not stock but my old one on my site http://members.cardomain.com/bnichols04. Tell me what u think

maybe I'm naive, but couldn't you score it up and paint it?

I am talking about the one that I made that goes below the bumper. The check engine light keeps comming on and it keeps stalling out. It won't idel good. I will change it back over to my old setup. Where do I get those filters that don't look like cone filters but they are like a cylinder. I would like to get one of thoes but I don't know where to get them or what you call them. Can I get them at auto zone or murray's???? :bounce:

couldn't tell you about the cylider ones instead of cone, I'm sure you could find one at the stores you mentioned. Why don't you just break down and go with KKM? I've heard nothing but good things about them. The short experience I've had with mine, I like it.

Just get a kkm intake. They work great.

with the setup you have, your intake sure is close to the ground. Are you sure you're not sucking up water or something, and that's giving you poor performance? Also I would think you have too many 90 deg. bends in your setup. The air has to go around too many corners. Try using 45 deg. peices instead of the 90 deg. ones, use two 45's to bend the pipe 90 deg. That should make for a more "easier" air path. Seems like your air flow is getting backed up with all those bends.

Let me rephrase that: "I wish iFab made an intake that was not METAL".

Wow, that tube looks really restrictive. Looks like it could be harming performance more than help it.

that's what I was "trying" to say.

the kkm ones are like $200 and the one I made is like $20. I think that the setup I have now is very restrictive too. Especially when I get off the highway and it always wants to stall out and sometimes it does! I am going to go with my old setup but I will update the pics on my web page of what it looks like now.

KKM is only $100. Your stock intake tube is fine to use.

I would like to get a whole new tube because the air flow would be smoother than using the stock tube. Is there a site that would sell me this??

From looking at those pics I can tell you the # 1 reason your truck is not running correctly. Your maf needs to be in its stock metal housing. If it is not placed in that housing it can not read correctly. The other thing you might want to check is if the vacuum hose from the factory intake is plugged. It it is left open un metered air enters the engine and it will run horrible.

Definitely the reason. That tube is amazingly long. If you want a less restrictive tube you'll have to make one yourself, and it's gotta be shorter and less curvy than that one.

TODAY I........:had so much fun destroying my horrible attempt of makeing a cold air intake. I smashed it into tiny peices. I made the filer turn to the left and left it there. I used a 45 and 22 1/2 degree elbows. I had a little trouble getting the truck to start. I found out that it was the adapter I made blocking the hole where the maf is. I fixed all and works much better. Only one problem! What do I do with the opening that comes off the left header. Can I just leave it open?? Or put a small filter on it? What purpose does it really serve?

That opening is just part of the heat shield. You don't need to do anything with it.
