So the other day, I get in my truck and try to start it, and nothing. It's been know to get corrosion on the negative battery connection so I cleaned it up and tried to jump start it, after a few try’s it starts. Let it sit running for a bit then I turn it off and tried to restart it again and nothing. I then tried to jump start it again and it wouldn’t start. Latter that night I tried it again and final got it running. Took it for drive got home turned on the heater and it died. I went to autozone to have them test my alternator and there unit wouldn’t fit it so I just bought it I said if this didn’t work I would just take it back. Today I changed the alternator, but I’m still having the same problems. I’m also having some weird lights flash in the cab if I leave the key in. Is this just my battery, its only about 3-4 years old or is it something else like my computer.

i myself would have them test the battery out of the car...i would probably first inspect very closely the cable leads from the battery...your key on problem could be a ground short...you may also have a cable hitting somewhere on the exhaust and it's grounding out...actually, i have had a starter go bad and when it failed it took my positive cable...i guess what i'm trying to say is electrical is real tricky and it takes a bit of time to check through everything so start with these items mentioned and go from there...i would check all grounds and be looking for loose or damaged wiring...i hope this helps...

thanks for the reply. I kinda feel like an idiot. I changed all the connections, changed the alternator, loosened and tighted all the ground cables that i seen. When last night at autozone they charged my battery for five minutes, but me and clerk there kind of decided it was alternator, then we inored the battery. well when i went back to get a refund on the alternator, i brought in the battery and we tested it. sure enough it wouldn't charge. oh well it works and i'm back on the road. Thanks for your time

no problem...thats what we are here for...sometimes we all overlook the simple things... it's great that it was an easy and cheap fix...:D
