I'm replacing my CMP shaft. I have the tool to adjust the sensor stator but I need to get the #1 cyl. at TDC. I was plannig on just using a long screwdriver and while hand cranking the crankshaft (clockwise) I could see the screwdriver reach the top and that would be it!

However, there are 2 TDC's for each revolution (intake/exhaust), correct? How do I know which one is the correct one to use to align the CMP!

And before you say, just mark the old CMP and put it back in where it was....let's just say that's not an option anymore:(

Stuff a tissue in the spark plug hole then crank. It will fly out when you are on the compression stroke. Turn by hand until you are at TDC. BTW, don't rotate the engine backwards more than a couple of degrees if it's a SOHC.

stick your finger in the number 1 cylinder spark plug hole and turn the crank. As soon as you turn it and it doesnt puff air, you are there. Dont crank it fast though or you will pass it, you much do it slowly.
