Ok, so i am on the eternal quest of eliminating squeaks from my 95 limited.

It all started about 3 weeks ago when i decided one weekend that i would find that super annoying squeak under the hood. So since i had a lifetime warranty on my alternator i decided to start there. I got a new one put it in and was messing around with all the pulleys and what not to make sure everything was good. I noticed that the idler pulley was really really bad. So i go and replace that was well. Everything was great for about a week, but now i notice that i get a very quiet squeak, coming from lower in the engine.

The squeak ONLY happens under acceleration and above 20 mph. It immediately stops when i take my foot off the gas, and gets worse at interstate speeds.

I am thinking belt tensioner, though it might be AC pump, i am not sure. The power steering pump seemed fine. What else could it be?

Thanks for any input you guys might have..

Oh and one other question, would failing shocks cause the camber of the drivers side wheel to need adjustment?

Water pump, compressor, could be many things. Or it could be the fact that its a 13 year old truck like mine, and squeaks. I've 230K, its squeaked for the last 30K, and still doesnt leak, miss, burn or anything.

hey thats true, i guess i should be happy! hahah.

Serp/fan belt?

If its old it could be the cause.
Or the A/C compressor kicking on.

Time to get out the mechanic's stethoscope or a piece of hose to narrow down the squeek. Even with those, be careful....I changed a waterpump swearing that the squeek was coming from it, but after 5 hours replacing it, noise remained. Turned out to be the cam position sensor which sits directly behind water pump on my 1999 5.0L.
Common for it to make a "chirping" sound. Difficult to locate this chirp because the CPS shaft is internal, plus all of the echo in the engine bay. Try removing your serpentine belt and in 'park,' rev the rpm's to the point where the noise occurs. If the squeek is still there, that will at least rule out anything that has a roller or pulley on it, as the culprit.
