so ladies and germs my front hubs are about junk, they engage when ever they feel the need and it sucks bad.
I hardly ever ever use 4x4, and i don't have the money now to get manual hubs.

so my question,
if i take the wheel off, and just take off the hub part that comes off when you take the wheel is off will this slove my problem??????

I just want to slove the random engaging until i can save the money for new hubs..

thanks
ryan

I wouldn't recomend removing the hub, since it also acts as a dust cover for the wheel bearings.

i am planning to get some rims off a 1997 explorer here very soon, they have the center caps over them to cover the lugs and stuff..
do you think it would be ok to take the hubs off after i get those rims?

bump
anyone eles got a thought on this?

Cant you just take out the spring?

Aren't the newer wheel caps made to just cover the sealed unit in behind them? They wouldn't stop water and dirt from getting there at all.:(

Ryan,
Try taking them apart and cleaning them, then lightly coat them with ATF Fluid.

Also in the future it would be more helpful to state your problem in the thread heading instead of putting "help me please". This helps others to know what your problems is by looking at the thread. We have many knowledgable people here, but many have alimited time that they can be on the site and you help them out by stating your problem on the thread heading, they can respond faster by not having to open up every thread.
