Help me with Auto hubs '94 XL

I need help learning how to replace my worn auto hubs with manual hubs. My 4 wheel drive doesnt work, I put it in 4x4 and the front tires clunk and whine and screech and all that junk. How do I convert to manual and is it better for offroading? Please help me!

the manual hubs are way better, the install is pretty easy if you are decently skilled. do a search here on the site, i'm sure there's a hub swap thread with pics and all.....
