I am new to this forum, and just bought a 2005 V-6 explorer with 140,000. It is extremely clean and I like it very much, but I am stuck on a couple things.
1) The transmission clunks between drive and reverse. Not always, and never when it's first started, only when the transmission has been used for a while.
2) The transmission shifts nicely, but on occasion when I slow down from 40 or so and I get back on the gas the engine revs to 12-1500 before it takes ahold. Not every time and its not like it is slamming into gear, just takes a second to engage.
3) The rear pinion nut was loose on the differential when I got the truck. I did tighten it up but do not know how tight it should be, and the differential has a slight whine when under acceleration. It does not scream, but has a little whine.
I really like this thing and do not want to get rid of it so I thought I would join this forum so I can help determine what I need to fix.
Thanks!
