HELP!!! multiple cd changers burning up

just driving down the road listening to some tunes when the music stops and there's a burning smell. turns out my stock changer is smoking. rip it out and install a new Alpine S630 changer. connect the battery to try it out and....it starts smoking. all my wires are "open" and what needs to be grounded is grounded. anybody have any ideas? i got it from Crutchfield and they sent the FDASX and the FDHTS harnesses i needed to hook it up using the stock HU. any help would be great. thanks

Could be a pair of wires that are crossed somewhere and creating a short?

I dunno, check all the wiring to make sure there is no shorts or that the power and ground are not touching each other (that could do it for sure).

You also want to make sure none of the input/output audio lines are shorted. If you have a channel shorted somewhere it will cause it to gradually heat up till it burns up.

I checked all the wiring and it didn't look like any wires were crossed. and there was only one wire running back from the changer to the harnesses in the back. Tech at Crutchfield said it could be just a short in the changer, so they are sending me a new one plus new harnesses. i just think its weird (hopefully just a coincidence) that it happened to 2 changers now.

i also hooked up the yellow wire on the FDASX to the yellow wire going into the sub. that was the only constant power wire i could find. could this have screwed things up?

Figured it out. there was supposed to be a jumper cable packaged with the Peripheral FDASX that wasn't. i dind't notice it was missing when i made all the connections = smoking cd changer.
