no start vs no crank

I assume that you mean your engine cranks (starter motor rotates engine) but will not start. If your gauge indicates the battery voltage is low there may be a problem with the gauge or the connections to it. However, if you have a fully charged battery that cranks the engine and there is ignition then the gauge problem may not affect the engine starting. This thread may give you some ideas: Ford Explorer Engine No Start Procedure

update

ok we had someone come over with a voltmeter today and had them test the TPS and we are getting 0 (zero) reading on the wires going into the TPS sensor itself we are not sure if this person was testing the TPS right. Ok here is the issue before the truck died it was making a tapping sound then it overheated and stalled. I got it started and got it home but I had to keep the gas pedal to the floor to keep it running we found out the fuel pump was bad and we replaced it but the truck still will not run.

Hi Aceheart1995,
Well someone correct me if Im wrong but it sounds like timing chains if you had a tapping noise before and now it wont start. Just my opinion. That 4.0 SOHC is known for the bad tensioners that are made from plastic. I hope this helps you, I just replaced all three tensioners and two chains on mine. Very expensive so get ready to bend over and grab the ankles. If its the back chain you have to pull the motor, if just the front chain, still expensive but you dont have to pull engine. Good luck and keep me posted!!

Welcome to the forum!. I would kinda suspect timing chain as well but then again that doesn't explain the whole battery dying all the time thing. You might have a serious draw coming from some place which puts a strain on the battery/alternator.
