Help, my 2021 Platinum died tonight…

Well, the vehicle is still throwing codes, BUT WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. What do these mean? Is the vehicle safe to drive? This is pissing me off since the 12/31/2021 instances are while the dealer still had the vehicle and was "checking and rechecking".

Hi Scott. As far as it being safe to drive, I don't have the answer. I don't know if the following links are of any help or perhaps you've already checked them out. I also found this post; 2020 ST Issues U Codes

Thanks Peter. I had seen some of that, but not all. Would love to find the connection to the RCM myself and check it.

Some of those codes like w/ lost communication and invalid data come up after reprogramming. You have to go back in after a refresh and self test and clear all dtcs. Tech might not be happy with something and trying software updates to get it right.

In these early stages of a model you got to work hard to figure out issues. Sometimes Ford engeneering gets involved and your truck is a test dummie as your the first one with the certain issue. If it happens to you it will happen elsewhere so I'd feel good about them being this thorough.

Interesting. No effects on driving/stopping that I can tell, but worries me nevertheless. That's what I get for looking. Will be in touch with dealer Monday.

My guess is they will probably clear them and see which ones return, if any.

Yeah, that worries me , too. Yesterday I picked up the vehicle at noon and drove it home, but the codes do not appear to have set until I drove it again to dinner. Randomness is not a friend of repairs! :)

True but if they keep coming back then they aren't random and the dealer is obligated to prevent them from appearing. ;)

You'd think Mercury Marine would have done better. Yamaha built Ford's SHO motors. I don't recall reading about any catastrophic failures, though.
The SHO engines had a habit of shearing the sprocket off the end of the camshaft. The results were fairly predictable. People stated welding them on.
