dont make left turns?:D:p::smokinfro

If its stalling during left turns, maybe something in the steering column?

There is probably a short in the multi function switch or the ignition on the steering column

well i dont think it is in the sterring colume because when its idling and i turn the whell to the left it stays running and not sure what the iac solenoid is

Thats weird....is it even on slight turns, or do you mean like full stop and go lef turns at a stoplight?

yea if i make a wide left turn it hesitatesbut if i stop at a light then take off and turn left it stalls out

Is your steering pump making any noise...does the belt squeel when you turn? Maybe the rack or the pump is freezing up? ......wierd man.

nope no noises or squells from the pump

IF it starts to stall and you turn back straight does it catch again?

How much gas is in the tank I wonder if you have a split in the soft gas line between the Intank Fuel Pump and the Sending unit.

I'm not familiar with this But someone can help me here. Isn't there a Mercury cutout switch under the passenger seat? If that switch turned 90 degrees it would cut power to the ignition by turning.

Sheesh, I never thought I'd see a "left turn syndrome" again. My first car was a Class A beater that my grandfather gave me. 1975 Dodge Dart with Slant 6. As much as it was a beater, I loved that car despite all its quirks. The biggest quirk was it stalling in the middle of intersections when I was turning left. Only did it in warm weather though. I never did get to the bottom of it. One day I was driving it and the driveshaft fell out. Got it towed home by AAA (CAA up here) and then got it hauled to the junkyard.

Sorry to go off topic. Just brought back some scary memories as I'd be stranded in the middle of intersections with oncoming traffic headed my way!

I could get it to stop stalling by slamming it into neutral briefly and then putting it back in gear with a little gas. Not good for the tranny exactly. ;)

The cutout swithc is just based off inerta (sp) or impact. If it is tripped it will not turn on untill it is reset by pressing it back down

yea when i straiten back out it will start up agian and it got a full tank i guess ill check the fuel lines

Thanks, wasn't sure quite how that switched worked I thought it was amercury switch that enertia would turn off long enough for the engine to quit.
I thought the 'G' force of an accelerated turn might cause the same result if the switch was rotated.

hahah My son is currently driving a '70 Valiant Slant 6 (daily driver)
and is putting together a 74 Dart (318). We've Wrenched those cars a lot this last year but no left turn stalling issues .

Mine definitely seemed fuel related. It would stutter a bit before stalling and I could save it by doing the neutral thing. It was definitely an adventure driving that thing.

well i figured it out with the help of my brother in law :) what the problem was a couple of months ago i had a battery that went bad and leaked acid everywhere and it ate thru some wires next to the battery and so everytime i made a lft turn the car would lean and pull the wires apart:salute:

Glad you found the problem.. those problems can get you nuts

I'm having this same problem. Hasn't happened recently though. But it started happening ever since I got a new battery which seemed somewhat smaller in size.
