Help! My AC went boom!

HELP! My ac totally cut out on me about a week ago... and I took it in to the shop and the guy says that my Compressor is shedding metal through my AC system and my compressor and condesor need to be replaced... amoung other stuff... and the bill is going to be like $1400!!! OuCH! First of all... anyone know where I can get this done cheaper? I was thinking about buying the parts myself.. getting a quote from Ford Parts Network... any other ideas???

D.I.Y.

Just buy the parts yourself. Have the system vacuumed out by a shop before replacing the old parts. You should be able to do all of it for less than half of what you were quoted.

We had a shop do it... so far that ac has cost us 1300 dollars.. and it still isnt cold!
