Hey Guys,
Today I noticed that there was a hose hanging out from underneath my 96 Explorer 4wd. It is coming out of the front differential. It is about 1 1/2ft long give or take. Where does it go? Or it is some kind of overflow? Help! I don't want to drive it until I figure it out.
Thanks!!
Mike

it may be your axle vent tube . If it is you can just ziptie it up out of the way just make sure it wont get caught up in anything

That's probably it. Just zip-tie it up somewhere like said above.

If it has a little cap on the loose end, it is definitley the breather hose......

Loose Hose....

Is there any other thing it could be? It looks like a breather hose to me. Anyone think anything different?

If it connects to the front axle close to the pumpkin it is definately the breather. Some Fords have vacuum components in the front pumpkin, but I don't think the Explorer does.

sounds like it is hte breather tube.... put its end up as high as possible and let it be....

On the '96, it could be the vacuum disconnect for the 4x4....
