Help needed with speaker.

I have a 2001 Explorer and I am wanting to change my front and rear door speakers. I called the dealership to get the size of the speakers, they said that the size was 5 1/2 x 7 1/2. can i use 5x7 or 6x8 speakers or will i need to have them installed by the dealership.

Yes, you can use 5x7 or 6x8. Some deeper 6x8 require some help to fit.

I have 5.25 components in my factory locations. I made a wooden plate to mount them on the size of a Ford factory speaker & bolted it in the factory screw holes.
