Does anybody know if there is a electricial harness associated with the heating motor?
I had a motor replaced for my heating system but the mechanic said the computer is no good for it.
So do I need a harness or is there a computer that needs to be replaced.

It's not blowing at all, the mechanic had replaced the blower but said there was some computer that needed to be replaced because the wires were burnt.
 






OK, if you have an Automatic A/C system then there is an associated "computer" (Electronic Automatic Temperature Control EATC) controlling the blower motor speed.
If you have a Manual A/C system then there is no computer just a few components controlling your blower motor.

I would be concerned about "burnt" wires. did the mech point them out to you?

EDIT: Additionally there are 2 fuses for the blower motor. One in the underhood Power dis box and one in the interior fuse panel.

problem could also be the blower motor relay or Blower motor speed controller.

If you have a meter/test lamp etc...
Disconnect the connector going to your Blower Motor.
With key in the "ON" position check the Pink/White wire going to the connector. it should have about 12VDC on it.
[The other wire going to your blower motor connector (orange/black) is what actually controlls the speed of the motor (fed from the blower motor speed controller, which is fed from your EATC).]

If you don't have 12VDC on the Pink/White wire with key in the "ON" position it's NOT the EATC or BM Speed controller it's the Blower motor relay, fuses or wiring. If you do have the 12VDC then the BM speed controller, EATC or wiring is suspect.

If you can check that out then we will try to further isolate the EATC, BM Speed control and wiring.


The EATC is probably a dealer item not 100% sure though, I am amazed at what part stores carry now.

If you have the digital A/C (eatc) I bet you have a fried blower speed controller. Its not really a computer, but a piece of electronics. Its under $100 from online dealers and its a dealer only item. Look where your evaporator core/fan housing is on the passenger side of the truck under the hood. There is a unit held on by 2 screws, you have to look around for it. It has a 5 wire harness. Remove that and see if it looks burnt.

There has been a few people that mentioned the burning smell when it goes.

It's the thing with the blue sticker on it.

Oh yeah, remove the cruise control actuator right away, I tried to work around it, big mistake.
 






So to sum this thread up, your mechanic replaced the wrong part, and now whats to replace yet another wrong part.

Personally, I would replace that controller module and if it fixes the blower motor I'd be heading right back to the mechanic to ask for the old blower back and a refund for the incorrect work that was performed.

After that, I'd be looking for a new mechanic.

I agree, it irritates me sometimes how some (not all) mechs will just replace parts willy nilly vice taking a little extra time to actually troubleshoot the problem, This often happens with scanning OBD codes and swappin parts instead of testing to see what the problem is.

With a few simple checks your mech should have isolated the problem and replaced the correct part the first time.
