Help - New Noise and Vibration :(

Ok guys....today for the first time I am idling at a stop light and notice my X vibrating every few seconds. I put everything on mute, turn off heat and I can hear this vibration as well. Sounds like its coming from underneath in the rear.

It's waves of vibration w/ vibration noise



It's really really cold today....like 9 degrees...I have no clue if that has anything to do w/ it but I DO NOT LIKE IT ONE BIT!

Did you check tranny fluid level?

no, since I've had it....
not sure if they do that when I get my oil changed.
Not to sound dumb but just a newbie at fluid checks....
where do I check this and what level is good for it to be at?

mine does the same, watch the RPM when it does it. it will go down, not a lot, but a little. a lot of cars do this, my friends J**p does it too.

Check the exhaust for any broken hangers, sounds like its time for that new exhaust system.

That might just be your RPM going up and down causing the vibration. Cleaning the MAF and a chevron fuel injector cleaner in your gas tank plus resetting your computer might cure the problem.

sarah, i know you havent had your truck for that long, but do you happen to remember if it did it when it was warmer out? mines got this little vibration when its cold outside but when the truck warms up, it goes away, and it only does it when the truck is sitting still; also, when its warm outside, it doesnt do it at all, so i dont even worry about it - its just one of those cold weather things.

No it didn't do it when it was warm, that's why I mentioned it was cold and hopefully that's what it was. I will watch and see how it acts when it gets warmer.

My 92 does the same thing when it's cold outside. My solution? I'm getting the hell outta Michigan in three months. Anyway, I don't think it's anything to worry about.
