Your symptoms sure sound like the fuel pressure regulator. Are you sure it was replaced? Check to make sure there is a good vac source to it. Sometimes if they are bad there will be fuel coming out the vac nipple on the regulator.

engine stalls when load of tranny is applied sometimes

also no acceleration power when in gear takes 250 feet to start to move a bit faster

if any one can help pleases need for work

91 explorer 4x4 automatic

check the temp sensors, the EGR, and the pcv valve, the temp sensor if defective will tell the computer it needs more fuel leading to an over rich and smoky condition, if the eger is open all the time it also confuses the system.
clean the air sensor too.

You didn't use silicone when you worked on the engine last did you? if so, clean the o2 sensor up good, carb and choke cleaner normally gets silicone off it, unless it's been baked on.

Advance auto has o2's for around $40.

ken.

Do all cylinders have spark? If so, do a compression test. That will tell you if your engine is blown. Check both at the same time.

If you have spark, fuel and compression, then it must be either the computor, the Crankshaft position sensor, or the coil pack. I happen to have a spare coil pack if you want to give that a try. E-mail me if you do.

have good spark and the garage just did a compression test and they said the coil pack was fine i guess i will try the crank shat positioning sensor next are they abel to be cleaned????
put on new wires today it now runs alot better no misses but still blows smoke and a wierd smell out the exughst but still stalls out when you put it in gear also takes about 10 cranks to get it started

If they did a compression test and it was good, how can they say the engine is blown? But, if it is good, than it looks like you've got it narrowed down to either the computer or the crankshaft sensor, unless your cat conv is plugged. I don't know if the TPS would cause these symptoms or not. Try and do a search for that on this site and see. Stay in touch.
