I recently went on a deep journey through some thick mud, and ever since then The engine starts to overheat after just a little while of regular driving. I flushed the cooling system, have hosed down the radiator numerous times, and am about to change the air filter, which is full of mud. I can't think of what else to do. Also, is there any way I can stop this from happening next time? Thanks

Don't go on deep journeys through thick mud. :D

Just an idea. What happened to the fan when u went through the mud? Is it broken in peices or did the clutch wear out?
And it over heats while ur moving? The only time i saw that happen was when the upper hose was clogged..with what i dunno.. and when my friend blew his head gasket. I hope u solve this problem soon! I would be very concerned about an overheating problem since it may warp a head and i know thats not fun to take out. Good Luck

i had the exact same issue when i took my 91 in a mud pit. i found that spraying the radiator helped only a little. after overheating the engine on another run up in some hills, i was able to get it home ok, but i removed the radiator from the truck to find that only a corner of the radiator was half uncovered! so i gently sprayed the fins and after about 30 mins it was cleared. whew! i reinstalled filled with water and antifreeze temp never reached th R on the temp gauge.also check your fan clutch if the blade spins freely you need to replace it.there should be a little resistance when spinning the blade. hope this helps, good luck.
