I was wheeling this weekend, bottomed out bad. I was going through tall grass slow and bam! fell into a 2 ft foundation with the front two wheels. No damage done really, just scrapes on the Torsion bar Gaurds, catalytic converters's sheild was slightly bent up but no miss shape to it. The only thing that happen was the heat shield was out of place and loose and dangling so i ripped it off. Should i Replace this thing or does it really matter?

I don't have one, and I personally don't think it matters. The only purpose I know it to be good for is if you are underneath the truck, so you don't get burnt as easily, and also, supposedly if you park in long dry grass it could start on fire. I'm not so sure about the odds of the whole fire theory, though.

you should replace it, but then again, i know of a lot of peopel who just rip it off and dont have any problems.... those shields usually do a good job of insulating though and prevent parts nearby from getting toasted

i would replace it if it were my truck

Ive seen it happen on a buddies truck a few years back. Parked it in some longer grass and went on a hike, when we came back the truck was burnt and the grass was on fire...

I am jsut double checking does the heat shield look like about a foot long and 3 inches wide, very light and has little circles on it?
