HELP PLEASE. Valve body replacement

FatCat, I read Strocket's post and he appears to have indeed installed everything I did and more. (Except for possibly a new EPC?)

I did leave out the Superior 'Pressure Riser', thinking I could easily install it later if needed. I also used the 'normal' instructions in the kit, rather than the 'towing/heavy duty' instructions.

I added a bottle of LubeGard Red, but that was several days later, and the trans was then shifting fine. My flare was gone from the very first test drive, and has never returned. (Knock on wood) I still remember how great it felt on the first upshifts to have fixed that aggravation.....

Better to be lucky than good I guess.

Alright I'm back. This thread seems to be getting quite a bit of attention, maybe Ford should have a recall!!!...I wish.
Alright I went ahead and bought this last week and it should be here today, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=180072476273

I have also read I should by the superior kit, my question is with the valve body I just bought, will this superior kit still work and be a good idea. If the answer is yes I will go ahead and buy this as long as no one has any doubts http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...tProperty=MetaEndSort&fvi=1&item=170039988062

Hopefully this will be getting installed sometime next week, any other parts I should buy, just let me know.

Sorry about the first link, try this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...tProperty=MetaEndSort&fvi=1&item=180072476273

Have you dropped the pan yet?

One Quick question, I did the Brown Wire Mod about 2 months ago, I realize that this should not effect anything but I would like to see a count of people on here that have the flair in 2nd to 3rd and whether they have the brown wire mod.

So are you going to install this rebuild kit in the old, or new valve body? Do you have to send the old one in as a core? How long is the warranty? Is the new valve body the same year as your old one?

Right now I am just gathering parts, I tend to buy to much and just resell what I don't need.

Another question I would like to ask. I know the Brown wire mod shouldn't have anything to do with this but I just did it about a month before the flair started happening, anyone with the flair please report if you do or do not have the brown wire mod.

Alright more updates, I have read and read, still not done with reading that 30 page diary on the 5r55e.

So far, I have purchased an extra valve body (I know I didn't need too).
Superior kit is ordered.

Items I want to order before getting started, please let me know if there is one site I can visit and make one big order.

Sonnax Boost Valve
VB Gasket, Pan Gasket
ford blow off valve
separator plate (I still don't understand if this is a part or modification).

Please add to this list if needed I would like to have everything ordered by Wednesday Evening.

Thanks for all the help, if this works out I will be donating some money to the site.

All parts are ordered including the separator plate for my SOHC (1L5Z-7Z490-HA), and new EPC..

Rebuild will be done next Saturday or Sunday after all my parts get here.

Only thing I am still a little confused on is which superior rebuild pieces to use and which ones I don't need to use. Still reading about this. Everything Else I think I have covered

Tricked, I suppose ideally you'd use all the parts, but unless the trans is out of the vehicle it's not practical. I omitted the small springs that go inside (can't remember their name), the servo springs (hard to reach), and the 'pressure riser'. I figured on adding it later if needed. It wasn't.

The Superior kit can be installed for 'normal' or 'towing' use. I used the normal parts, but use your own judgement and just follow the instructions.

I highly recommend you make a cardboard template for the VB bolts, to keep them in order. There are several sizes and they MUST be replaced in the same holes. An inch-pound torque wrench is recommended.

Also pay special attention to the manual valve spool when you replace the pan. It's easy to mis-align with the shift rod, when you're tired and anxious to get it all back together.

Good luck,
ROE

Alright all parts are here, and the install begins Saturday morning. Decided to pay $20 for the Elite membership, to post pics, and because this site rocks!

Well here's a pic if you can see everything, do you see anything missing.

And I realize I orderd the VB gaskets and didn't need too because they come with the new Ford OEM plate. Anybody wants them for $7.50 shipped I'll be glad to ship them.

I do recommend you install the double lip (or wiper) O ring for the Low/Reverse servo (In the shift kit) while you are in there. (Unless you bought the D ring version separately and planned to install that).

 Me drooling over all the new parts!!! Now get to work  and good luck. ;)

Alright the fun began a couple hours ago. We might need to mention that the flipping Cat that has to come off on the SOHC (its right under the tranny pan)d is a PITA. After impact wrench, one bolt cut with cut off wheel, and one bolt off with sawzaw its out! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE YOUR CAT FROM YOUR HEADER WITHOUT AN BIG IMPACT WRENCH! Also went ahead and took the drive shaft on because the Superlift IFS Lift is going on soon. (this was very easy process, especially with a air ratchet. Draining ATF now.
