Help! Red Cherry Coke Juice On Carpet

okay i disscussed it in detail with my wife and she has what i think is the solution. first oxi-clean did not work because its primary strength is on "organic stains" you need something to cut the inorganic stuff as it is acting liek a die. obviously bleach would not be an option but soemthing with a similar catalyst. the last step that i can think to tell you to try is.... Greased Lightning! soudns weird but they make it in a spray bottle and it takes just about anything out of anything. im talking grease on my jeans after swappingthe tranny came out with this stuff. its go to work. if not you might have to do what my mom did in her mazda 929. go to the dealership (only a few have this service) and they can redie secitons of your interior to stock. she had the whole rear floorboard area redone for around $200 if im not mistaken. its been a few years though. i think that they actually bleach it first then redie it all to ensure eveness.

go fo rthe greased lightning first. walmart has it and the autopart store has a version of it as well.

Thanks, Buchvilleman. I will add Greased Lightning to my list to try. I suspect the "red" is a water base, rather than oil base product, although I am not a chemist. Perhaps we have a chemist Explorer owner and he/she can respond. The problem with dying the spots is in the Limited Edition carpet pattern. It is a blend of light brown and ivory fibers together in a tight weave. Stay tuned! Mike

It is like some kind of soap opera.

I can not wait to see what happens next !!!

I think you meant "stain".

Yea , my bad , thanks.

Update: Still on the hunt... and no results as of yet. Amonia, vinegar, soap/bleach, all have not remove the stain. Have not tried Greased Lightning yet but will in the future. Sooo... keep the suggestions coming. Thanks! Mike

Has any body seen that episode of the Simpsons where Lis got bubble gum stuch in her hair and every body was tossin' out suggestions ?

Sounds familiar hunh ?

peanut butter, try peanut butter, or maynoaise, i heard that mustard works also..... :)

just freeze it and pound it out, that could work too!

i use quick n brite....this stuff cleans anything.

how bout gasoline? that dissolves just about anything...

Thanks for all the suggestions, but it appears it is a permanent stain. I have done an exhaustive internet search on cleaning solutions, procedures, ect..and apparently it is dyed into the carpet fabric. Again, thanks for all the help. Mike

Sorry to hear that Mike.

In the meanwhile, does anyone know of a site where I can get exact OEM carpeting for my Limited Edition if I cannot find a solution?

If you've given up, I have a friend who makes custom floormats for cars and boats. You might have an excuse to get a new custom floormat thing going on, it'd look pretty cool.

Check it out: The Matworks Ltd

Thanks for the interest, Diablo. Probably I will just live with it. Mike
