Ok, So I installed 2" coil spacers yesterday and adjusted the camber, and the toe by adjusting the tie rods. The truck has been going fine since then. BUT, tonight I was driving home and all of a sudden I hear this "POP", followed by something sounding like metal hitting metal. Then the truck starts shaking like crazy. I couldn't go over 25 without it shaking so bad that I'd lose control. I drove home like this for 15 miles. When I got home I checked out the suspension and it looks fine and I cant see anything wrong. I jacked the truck up and the control arm thing isn't loose and the tires dont move up and down or anything. I have no clue as to what happened. Im thinking maybe a U Joint broke, but then I did drive on it for 15 miles after it happened, and I dont think I would have been able to drive on a broken U Joint. Does anyone have any idea of what this may be? I need to get the truck fixed ASAP because it is my only vehicle and I need it everyday. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks,
Andy

if a rear u joint broke the vehicle would not move at all.....

for the life of me, i cant figure out what would make it vibrate so violently that you couldnt drive it if all the suspension components seemed to operate ok

I was thinking of something more like a front U Joint

do you drive with 4x4 engaged? if not and your hubs are unlocked/autohubs arent broken, the front u joint wonst spin, so it shouldnt even be an issue......

When you have your foot on the gas and it's shaking really bad and you let off the gas, does it still shake bad or no?

it doesnt shake as bad when i take my foot off the gas, but it still shakes a bit

If the problem is that bad, jack the vehicle up by the frame and try to shake the wheels. A problem like that should be quite obvious.

I jacked the truck up by putting the jack under the axle. That should do the same thing for me as putting it under the frame shouldn't it?

nope
it doesnt let the suspensio parts hang down.....

no.. by jacking from the frame, the wheels will be off the ground and no pressure will be on the suspension components.

edit: what he said

ok, I will try to jack it up by the frame in the morning. Do you have any idea what would cause it to shake so bad?

Could it be the bearings?

I went outside today and checked out the front suspension and jacked the truck up by the frame and I could not find anything wrong. So I decided to jack up the back of the truck and hit the gas and see if it still shook. Sure enough, it was the back of the truck that was shaking. So I crawled under it and found that I broke the U Joint on the driveshaft. It was the U Joint that is closest to the transmission. So I replaced it and the truck is running great again.

Thanks everyone,
Andy
