help speed control?

hopefully this is the right place? does anyone know if there is a speed control sensor or relay? for the speed control on a 96, eddie bauer explorer, 4x4, 4.0.??

its not working at all. i tried to reset it like i saw on another thread, but that was for a 97, and mine is a 96.

are you talking about cruise control by chance? is it possible there's a fuse that's gone out?

yes cruise control. checked the fuses and they are fine.

First, make sure you have stop lights. If these don't work, the cruise control will not engage.

Second, check the cable where it attaches to the throttle body. Ford had a campaign out for this cable way back when, because of breakeage and sticking.

Third, beyond these two items you may need a compatible scanner to check for codes and diagnose this system

There is a redundant brake switch, on the master cylinder, that could be a problem, so much so there is a recall on the system.

i already checked the cable at the throttle, its not stuck . the stop lights work. can i just take it to a ford dealer and ask them about the recall??

you might be able to, just make sure they won't charge you for it.

also, i just thought of this, look underneath the hood and locate the cruise control servo, some cruise control systems are vacuum controlled, so i'd make sure the vacuum hoses are tight and connected still.
