Ok, i found the grommet in the firewall running my 4 gauge. I plan on running 1/0 gauge wire now so I'm probably going to have to make the hole bigger which is not a problem. But how should I run the wire through the hole??? Should I run the wire from the inside of the car out to the engine area?? Also, I can't seem to find where the wire enters the cabin from the engine area because the wire goes pretty damn low in the middle of everything in the hood. How am I suppose to do this? Any help or tips?? THanks.

Its easier to run from the inside out:D

When I put thru 4 gauge I used a hanger and bent it straight and pushed that thru the hole into the engine, it was easy to find then taped the wire to the hanger and pulled it back into the interior.

Are you talking about the hole behind the brake pedal? If you push the wire through from inside, it will come out right under the master cylinder...

what you might wanna do is go to home depot first....go to the electrical section and ask for "grommits" they should be various sizes..round and usually black. then when you find a size that will allow your wire to pass through then drill out the hole in the firewall and put the grommit in there so as to protect the wire.

as was mentioned before that hole in the firewall you found comes out behind the upper part of the brake pedal. and i would tape a piece of smaller wire to it and fish it down from the engine bay to the cab.

there is another post about something similar... im charging my camera right now and i will show you how I ran my 0 gauge ;] its was actually easier then running my 4 gauge in the contour

Well im in the same boat once i get my lazy @ss off the couch, Im gonna run my 0 guage wire outisde the ex, for a couple reasons, 1 being the grommet youre talking about comes throught the firewall underneath the power brake booster/master cylinder, you can run wire through there as i think youve done, and so have I (4 guage) but the wire that goes through the firewall goes under neath the pedals then, i dont notice my 4 guage, bu you'll notice 0 guage underneath there. 2. cosmetically unless you are really, really good at hiding large guage cable it's gonna stick out when you look at the carpet......anyways I recommend you run it out side the vehicle and come up through one of the rear seat area grommets, thats what im gonna do..whew thats a lot of talkin.....

BTW: how the heck do you say the "0" in 0 guage, some guy was sayin it like "oh",and a friend was calling it "odd", but I thought it was "zero" prolly just a brain fart on my account.......
-and whats the diff between 0 guage, and 1/0 guage???

where are the rear grommets?

0 gauge and 1/0 gauge are the same thing people just write it differently...

2/0 id not 2 gauge tho. that is the next step after 0 gauge

My pictures will show that running the 0 gauge will be no different then running 4 gauge... i ran them underneath everything...

The '0' is pronounced "aught". 2/0 (which is larger than 0) is pronounced 2-aught or double-aught.

Cable comes in sizes up to 4/0, that I know of.

how bout you run it through where the steering column comes through the firewall. That is where i run all my wires and i have never had a problem at all.

I wouldn't run wire any where near the colum. most pro installers like me us a ground down antenna to poke into the engine compartment and pull the wire through.

REAR GROMMETS

where are the rear grommets?

rear grommets are located between the folded down back seat and the "flap" that goes against the seat when it is in the upright position, they are black oval shaped grommets that sit right above the jack tools encased in that yellow plastic holder.......hope this makes sense..........

There is also one directly above the spare tire, in the middle, under the carpet.....

search for my post with the detailed description and pictures
