It's the engine sensors you need to be concerned about. Swapping the intake manifold between years of vehicles can help give you a broader range of engines to use for a swap as the intake manifold carried most of the sensors.
Sorry I can't tell you exactly what year range of engines will work. Hopefully another one of our members will have a more definitive answer.

99-01 are direct bolt in and a 98 long block would work also.
