Hey guys,
I'm new here (obviously). I don't actually own an Explorer a friend of mine does but she's not big into cars as long as it runs its good with her lol. So here's the problem she's having that I'm trying to help out with but don't know enough about Explorers.
When she goes to start the truck, put in the key and turn it over, it'll turn over strong as long as you want it to or until the battery dies. So trying that multiple times will eventually get it to start but sometimes it doesn't, also she has 2 keys so sometimes if she switches out the key for the other one it'll start right up. I don't think it's the starter because it cranks strong every time. I was thinking it either has to do with the security system because changing keys works more than half the time or the fuel pump is going bad. The thing is once its started it runs strong with great idle and zero problems. This occurs almost every time you start the car regardless of warm or cold. I'm running late for work but if there's more information needed just ask and I'll answer to the best of my knowledge. It's a 2001 Ford Explorer XLT
Thanks!
Andrew
