help with 4x4 buttons.

i have a 93 x.i bought it used.the 4x4 buttons are not lighting up when i press them.also they do not engage.i want to make sure that im not driving with the 4x4 on.i can i tell if i am?also if i am is there a way i can put it on 2wd?thanks in advance.
 






the 4x4 high should light up when u push it the 4x4 low u have to be stopped with brake on in neutral for it to light and engage
 






Check a few things first....

1.The 4X4 fuse

2.Make sure the plug is securely connected to the back of the switches

3. Make sure the motor below isn't all gummed up with dirt and crud.
 






There are actually 2 indicators for the 4x4 system. One on the dash next to the button, and one to the left of the steering column in the black "indicator panel strip". Im assuming none are coming on. This is most likely not a bulb problem, but a result of the 4x4 computer shutting the system down due to a problem. The culprit is almost certain to be the shift motor.
Check Dead Link Removed for a quick fix. If this doesnt work, your looking at about $250-$300 to fix.
