ARC shock? Are you talking about the kicker shock, mounted horizontally on ford 4-link cars?

Hes talking about the Automatic Ride Control shock, with the air suspension. I think Ford is the only place to get them, but I may be wrong.

Ah! That makes sense. You can get them from Ford, and there are some aftermarket suppliers making them, but I'm not sure. If I come accross an add I'll post the company info.

Sorry about the late reply the time zones make it hard to talk.
Yes it is the Automatic Ride Control shock with the air suspension and yes the only place that you can buy them looks like Ford.
They cost AUS$1250 about US$875 EACH (not a set) so you can see why 'm looking round.
So if anybody has any ideas that would be great, and no i do not want to modify the suspension with after market, but if you know of some one who is doing a mod on thier Ltd l would like to buy their old shocks.

I always wondered.....is it possible to use an after-market air shock to replace the ARC shock? Seems like it would work but not sure. Just a thought.......

Aftermarket would be great if l can find someone who makes them.
l see Steve thinks he has seen someone making them, with a bit of luck he'll post there name

I'm talking about the regular-type of air shock made by Gabriel for carrying loads. Seems like it would work but I'm only guessing.

Yes you can change them, from what i have read on other theads you have to change all 4 of them and put in a extra leaf spring in the rear.
Having said that l really want to keep it standard

I know what you mean about keeping it "standard". Hate to have a good runnin' truck held together with tape and rubber bands. Maybe you'll just have to go with the factory shocks unless you're lucky and catch somebody selling 'em on ebay. Try checking the buy/sell section on this forum, maybe somebody is parting-out their truck.

Thanks Brian
l have a part number from Ford (AUS) which l gave to someone in America and they sent me a photo of the auto level type not the ARC type, no one will confirm it has the wires coming out of it. so l'm not shore of the part number to go to the link you gave me
