I have a '95 explorer 4 doorand i want to get a nice audio system for it. Are the speakers that go it it 6 x 8? or what? and also does anyone no of a good amp and subs that would give my ride a sweet system without spending more than 500?

Thanks!

also i was wondering if the amp should power just the subs, or get an amp that powers the speakers too? Just tell me what you guys have done, and what you think would be a good suggestion!! :D

you'll prolly be happier in the long run with a dedicated sub amp. Cheaper too I think.

buy it locally or off the net?

if off the net... BX1500D (approx $275 shipped) and 2 10" alpine type R's (approx $225 shipped) wow that came out perfect!

but as for the subs, ive never used them but heard good stuff about them, subs are all on you ;)

speakers are 5x7/6x8's or you can use 5.25's and mount them on a baffle
Crutchfield has a lot of options and they'll send you all the information you might need to get the job done. plus if you buy 5.25" components they'll give you the plastic mounting plates i think

i got some previous audio stuff from ebay brand new for a decent price, probably cheaper than anywhere else

It's a shame you are not spending more money on a system for your explorer. Since you are in Dallas, I have a killer system custom made to fit right in an Explorer and is nothing but sweet. I never got the chance to put a meter to it before the accident though. Would like to know what she pegged. Good luck though and welcome to the site.
