I did a lot of searching and reading last night and found some very interesting information regarding the first generation Explorers and their transmissions.
But I still have some questions. Is the A4LD the transmission used in the full-sized and sport Explorers? Are they interchangeable?
Since the Aerostar uses the A4LD is this a direct bolt in to the Explorers? What about the Sports?
What other transmissions can be interchangeable to a 1992 Explorer Sport? Can I bolt a newer Ranger or Explorer transmission to the First generation motor? Is this a direct bolt or will I need to alter some things?
I'm just looking for options and any and all information would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Cory
