Hello. I want to install a direct cord for my radar detector and I'm not totally sure how to do it. I have several options, one of which is a Littlefuse Add-a-circuit adapter http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=071-580
The other is that the cord itself has a ground and then the hot, which has a blade end hooked up to it, along with a fuse.

I guess I don't understand how to hook it up. I see in my manual that I have an extra 10amp fuse. But does the slot the fuse sits in work? or is the slot dead, and the fuse is there as a back up for one that I might blow? If the slot works, then I'll just use the Littlefuse to double up on it. If not, I'll find another. But I need a slot that only turns on when the key is turned on, and I think it has to be no more than 10amps. Any suggestions?
That blue thing in the Full.jpg is a splicer that allows you to splice off of a known hot wire such as a dome light or something. But dome lights come on when the keys are off, so that won't help. My cig lighters are hot all the time time too.
Another thing I'm confused about, is can I take that blade end off from the Full pic, and just stick that end into the Littlefuse end, and crimp it off? I think that is how it works. But what about that fuse that's on my direct cable? Do I still need it?
I've also read that you can buy a Mini fuse tap that I guess you stick down onto the fuse you want to use, then that blade slides into that.
This seems REALLY easy to do, but I still don't know exactly where to start or what I'm doing!
Thanks!
Jason
