I recently installed 2 headrest dvd players in my 04 explorer xlt. The headrest are in place and the wires are snaked to the bottom of each seat.

My problem is in how do I connect them for power. Each screen has a fuse box connected to the end of a cable with a red and black wire coming out of it. The instructions say to connect the wires to a 12v wire.

Where can i connect these? Can I splice them into the wires for the cigarette lighter located in the rear of the center console?

Everyone in this forum seems to know their stuff, so I really appreciate any tips or info you can give me to get this done.

Thanks,

Nils

Well the black is your ground, and the red is your 12volt+ i myself would run them to the ignition switch (that because i was a pro audio installer for 10 years so i like to do it the right way). I would run them to an ignition wire that is only hot when the vehicle is on. This way you dont have to manually shut them off and they will go off when you turn the vehicle off.

i agree, an ignition wire is best , but maybe there is an option to run a new wire under the carpet from a switch on the dash, that way if you want to show them off , or have them on when the key is off you could,,,

but with them on the key switch they will not kill the battery ,,

Took it to a pro shop and had it ran to the ignition switch. works great. thanks for the replies
