Help with hooking up my indash screen

The yellow wire was for a continous current, thats why it stays partially lit at night, o figured what im going to do is just dissconnect that one and just keep the power and ground hooked up so it turns off compltley when the car is off. The yellow wire is just there to provied minimal energy so it can remeber the settings.

Then whats the red wire for?

Looks good. Would you recommend it to other folks? I might get one. Does it have a glair when looking from the side (like the drivers or passenger seat). What did you have to do to get both of those to fit in there? I have a pioneer CD player, and my DVD is under my seat. Id like to place this in my DIN with my CD player. Did you have to trim the area around it, or did they both fit snuggly? Im going to have a shop do it, so I know itll get done, Im just worried about them trying to hustle me, ya know? Saying I need to trim it if i dont, saying i need to do this/that/ the other if i dont. What exactly did you have to do? Thanks for your time man. It looks great. I hope mines that nice.

very very little trimming is needed to make it fit.. i have a similar setup and wanting to change it for an indash screen.
that one sounds good for the price...take a look at mine and you will see how it fits.very nice and tight...

is the mercury dash the same as the 95 and up explorer..

if so 2 single din units fit very very nice in there..

could have been a little more room in the back with all the wires tv tuner and also the fm modulator.. it is super tight behind it ...

This is my review on my screen so far.

On the picture quality, it is superb. Up there with name brand screens. it is also easy to use.

Now the bad things. I had to do some trimming to get them to fit in there. Unfortunatly i was in such a hurry i didnt bother to take out that black peice and really line it up. So i trimmed too much. Also when i open the screen i hits the back of the AC vent. To the places i went they said they would charge me about $300 jsut to custom put that in there which is way t omuch for such a little amount of work. I suggest jsut buying this and doing it yourself. I will probaly be doing the finishing touches on it tomorrow.

I would tottaly suggest anybody looking for a screen to get one of these. It is the best deal i have ever gotten and it works great.

But the place that would do it for me hooks me up you know? My sister and brother in law get all their cars done there (on there 4th), they hooked up my system I got now, A bunch of my freinds, etc etc....Just to install a cd player (including the harness and whatever else you need) they was gone charge 20 flat, tax included. Im pretty sure theyll hook me up. Also, What do you mean it hits the back of the AC vent? I could do it myself, but being a total novice at wiring stuff, I dont wanna mess anything up, ya know? That seller has great deals...I might go with the 14.1" Flipdown as well....gonna have to go do some checking for measurements. Im not even sure Ill get this screen. I know someone who wants 500 flat for a Pioneer AVIC N1 brand new. I might go that route, if I can convince them to hold it till my next check....hmmm....Damn this stuff is hard to decide on!

David, ur screen is setup like the one i have now (that im trying to replace), except I dont have a center console that goes to the dash, so mine is bolted to the floor on the stand that came with it. Everyone says it looks cool, and they never saw one there before mine. And My DVD Is under the passenger seat. I wanna move it to under the rear seat facing forward though. Im always paranoid someone will kick it.

when the screen comes out and goes back it hits the AC vent and i think this might wear out the gears in the motor sooner or later.if you have somebody who will hook you up and install this for you, then you should by all means get this. As long as you know some basic wiring you will be fine. If you need any help just ask in here. I will be doing some more work on it to get that perfect fit, also need to get it to sit out more so it looks better.

When i have time and it looks right ill take some better pictures anf probaly make a better write up.

can yoiu post where yuou bought it from and the seller...

thanks

 with mine i got lucky.. the installers at my work thought it was gonna slam into to vents, but theres like 1/32" clearance. Could you pull it out 1/4" or so so that when it flips up theres clearance? how far does it have to go until its fully out before it hits?

I think with mine it neds about another 1/4 in of clearence maybe less. I could pull it out but then i would have to add fiberglass or duct tape to keep it out so it doesnt go back in.

Thats sweet, does it help you out foxxing johhny law? If it does where did you get it?

I finally got my screen to fit in right, got wiring done prefect and i have taken a very clear picture of my screen, hope this helps you if you ever wondered about buying an ebay screen.
