The issue I am having is an ever expanding misfire. The motor is the 4.0l OHV. I started out as a lean code so I replaced my upper intake and fuel rail gaskets, egr, throttle, and a number of other intake related gaskets. I solved some vacuum leaks ans replaced plugs, wires, coil. ohm tested it all swapped them around and whatnot. I fixed the lean codes which became rich codes on both banks (yay me). I replaced the crank position sensor as well. Then I took the fuel rail off checked to make sure all the injectors were working and it passed. so I moved the #4 injector to #3 . The issue followed to #3 but a few miles later I got codes for #3 and #4 , and then I got #5 miss. So much fun. I have read hundreds of posts and tried it all. So I took the heads and everything off because I was getting smoke on start up and it smelled like coolant, I have no white in my oil so I thought maybe it was just a small leak through a hole that sealed up once the engine got hot. I notice something weird around the #3 intake valve. It looks like fuel staining.

Both valves were black but the rest of the exhaust valves were white like they should be. Dont mind the coloring now I had done a leak test with it so it changed. The picture is of cylinder #3 .
