I was attempting to change the fluid in my transmission when i hit a snag. I dropped the pan and their was some yellow plastic dreidel looking object sitting in the bottom of the pan. it has a o ring on it so i assume it goes to something but i can't see anything it would go to.

Please somebody help me so i can put this back together!!!!!!

i think if you know what it is , that is enough pics,

That is a plug for the dipstick tube opening in the transmission case during assembly, you just throw it away. It plugs the hole as the transmission is sitting and waiting to be installed, then when the dipstick tube is installed the plug just gets pushed into the pan. They're called cherries because that proves the transmission is a virgin and never been serviced.

This is a trans dipstick plug. I'ts being installed during a trans build, so water and dirt (dust and stuff) would not get into trans case.
It does not damage the tranny. Since the plug was still inside, it indicates, that the fluid was never changed before.

Shows that I'm a slow typer...

Wow thanks guys for all your help. Its always nerve racking to find something you have no idea what it is just floating around in something like the trans.

Glad we have some experts here. I would have totally freaked out if I found that in my tranny also!
