Help with sensor

Does anyone know the name of the air temp sensor that plugs into the air intake tube on a 96 4.0L?

I am assuming it is an air temp sensor because when I broke the wire (DOH!) my check engine light came on and the code was for high air intake temperature (this was when it was VERY cold out). The wire broke coming from the engine (going into the part which plugs into the air intake tube) and there isn't anything left to splice to.

One last question, could this effect my gas mileage? I just went from about 21 to 17 on the highway, I think it started once this wire broke.

Intake Air Temp (IAT) sensor is what some call it. You should replace it or rewire it if it broke.

Where is this sensor located? I just pulled a CEL code #113. Can the sensor be replaced/cleaned or what? Thanks in advance.

Ok, if it's anything like the intake tube on my 95 exp. sport, it is a little plug that is clamped in to the air intake tube right before it makes the bend into the throttle body. When you pull it out, it looks almost like a little red light bulb inside of a grey (I believe that was the color) casing. If I recall correctly, it's the only sensor that plugs into the intake tube that uses a hose clamp to secure it. Like I said before though, it should be right before the intake tube makes the bend into the throttle body.

A faulty IAT sensor can cause drivability problems like low fuel mileage.
